Thankful for SO much....

Here's a quick little post holiday update! Things have been very busy at the new shop. Im very thankful for that. As most of you artists know, switching jobs this time of year can be deadly!! But this move has proven to be amazing on many levels!! Heres another healed photo from a recent piece!

And here's a piece that I started today. It was his first tattoo! Sat like a rock! Cant wait to get back into this piece, SOOOO much fun!!

I also had the pleasure of tattooing Marie, a friend of mine from Seattle, whom was home visiting for the holiday..

Also, I will be working the Electric City Tattoo convention again this year. Which I am SUPER excited about. Last year was such a blast, I look forward to this year being even better!!! And keep an eye peeled for not one but TWO new business cards coming soon. They are KILLER and I have Jim Adams to thank for that one!! Im also booking appointments for the new year! Now taking appointments!

Let me begin by saying, thank you, for such an amazing response to my first ever, preferred client mailing list announcement. I was flooded with support and eager anticipation from all of you, my most loyal and creative clients, about the new pieces I'm booking for my upcoming articles. In all honesty, I am more excited about this new artistic direction for my tattooing than I am even able to convey. And yes, I am open to reducing my hourly rate to do some specific pieces that I have created for the magazine coverage, but is only available for my mailing list subscribers so let me know asap by replying to this.

It is with overwhelming excitement to finally announce that I am the newest resident artist at Nautilus Tattoo, beginning on October 19th. Nautilus is located at 2719 Berlin Turnpike in Newington, CT. Newington is a short drive, just 25 miles from Naugatuck, 8 miles from Hartford and 30 miles from New Haven!  I'm extremely grateful and excited to work alongside such talented artists, and am looking foreword to welcoming you guys into one of the top studios in all of New England!

I am eagerly anticipating creating your tattoo art in an environment that both endorses and encourages tattooing and painting. The staff display an obvious command of different mediums and with my love of painting and my new found studies and techniques in tattooing, I feel that I bring a lot to the shop and hope to learn and grow faster   than ever

On the web: I would like to invite you to share in some of the inspired images I discovered simply by getting to know every ones portfolios and paintings on www.Nautilustattoo.com . The idea of creating with these guys is already something I am looking foreword to and if any of you would like to discuss setting up a tattoo collaboration (two artists creating and doing your tattoo together doing twice as much in half the time) I would LOVE to talk with you.

I am eager to set up and confirm appointments now to finish out and photograph all of our existing and in progress tattoos, just email me and I will reply with available dates that apply to your needs. Simply send an email to lastwordalways@gmail.com and include your name, current phone number, a description of existing work, and photos (of tattoo and placement) if possible (phone pics or mirror are fine) so I can see the area surrounding the tattoo as well. Please also include any reference materials or related quotes or concepts, I will start your new file with this information

Any cash deposits can now be dropped off with the front desk at Nautilus but my ongoing clients will always get top priority so tell them proudly your coming to see me!

Don't forget to check out www.ClareJordanTattoo.com for more updates and loads of new pics and art I have to share.

with respect and gratitude,

Clare Jordan

Important announcement!!

Greetings everyone.

Let me start off by saying that I appreciate all of the support you have given me and I want to thank you for being the greatest clients in the world.

I'm excited to share that I'm moving on from No Regrets Tattoo and I'll be announcing my new location in October just in time for Halloween! I'm very excited for you to all come see my new spot and the new artwork that I've been working on. I'm very anxious to start some new pieces, as well as completing everything we have started to date. I need to get photographs of as many tattoos as possible for an upcoming article. I've currently been studying under a well known artist and learning so many new techniques! I'm very excited for the opportunity to learn and travel, I look forward to sharing it. I'm thrilled about doing my first tattoo article ever and I wouldn't be doing it if I didn't have loyal clients like you!

We can stay in contact with each other through LastWordAlways@gmail.com from which I will be sending out periodic updates directly to my client list. I will also be updating www.ClareJordanTattoo.com regularly. Again, I would like to thank you all for being a part of this tremendously exciting journey!

Sincerely,

Clare Jordan

'as loyal as she began... so she remains'

Hey All---
Just a quick update. This Saturday is the Art for the Heart show at Hartford Artspace.. Im SUPER excited about this show and very happy with my piece. It was a blast to work on. Just so you know 20% of every piece goes to the Heart Disease foundation. Ive decided to charge 600.00 for my mannequin with 50% of the piece being donated. This show means a bunch to me due to the fact that both of my grandparents suffered from heart issues. The carving in the tree is their initials.. So please come out and support an amazing cast of artists for a great cause.

Hartford ArtSpace  On Display Dec. 6th through Jan 8th

555 Asylum Avenue
Hartford, CT

$10 donation at the door ($5 for children)

FOOD and LIBATIONS graciously sponsored by Harpoon Brewery, Chef extraordinaire Carl Lantz, Remax Premiere Realtors of West Hartford, Shayna B's and the Pickle, Angelo's on Main, Nature's Grocer and the Flatbread Company

newbies.

Its quite common in this line of work to be someones first.. haha! Well, it was QUITE the stressful honor to be the first to 3 kiddies quite close to my heart. My lil sisters Paige and Chloe and my brotha from another motha, Kyle. Whom I'd like to thank for these fine photographs..

Kyle approached me for his first tattoo of a "sacred bacon cheeseburger".. i was THRILLED to say the least. At that point I thought it was a great idea for my lil ones to hop on. So this past saturday night I tattooed into the wee morning hours. What most people dont realize is that when theres NO money involved and its a clever tattoo, its not work. its FUN.

So I'd like to thank the 3 of em for bestowing such a dubious honor as this. I Love you guys with all my lil black heart has to give..

Kyle's sacred bacon cheeseburger..
Paige's tattoo.. SO effin cute. from the Fables comic..

Art for AIDS show..

Here's a couple pictures from the Art for AIDS opening in Hartford.. What a GREAT time!

These were all the pieces from the "art grab". It was an overwhelming site to see such a range of artwork styles. I had a hard time picking which piece I'd grab!

This is my donated piece.. 'And the peacock led him in"

This is a picture of the gentleman who chose my piece!! Thank you whoever you are!!

Me.. wine glass.. trying to choose. If any of you know me, I'm horrible at making decisions when given too many choices!

This is a picture of me with the piece I chose. The amazing work of Tom Ryans..

Overall this was an amazing event. You walked in and they had a decorate your own wine glass station. How fun!! It was sponsored by Hotel California Tequila, so of course there were drinks flowing!

sneeky peeky....

Well. Here it is. This is my third oil painting, and really the first one with a lot of detail. Im not sure how many hours I have in on this piece but let me tell you, it was fun doing it. Most of you that read this are artists yourselves, so you understand the process:
-Its a love/hate relationship. (love at first sight.. hate as last glance)
-The 'I have a dead line' feeling. (late hours.sleepless nights.)
-The, as i like to say, 'sunday night homework kid' aspect. ('"oh, ive got plenty of time" and starting it the week before deadline.)
Well. Its all worth it. Every single overblend, everytime I dropped a brush on previously painted section, dipping my paint brush in my coffee instead of Turpenoid.
The outcome is all worth it.
I finished one today.. and laid one out right when I got home....
But anywho, This piece is going to be in the Hope Gallery Grand Re-Opening, which I'm very proud to say I am apart of. The show is this Friday and as always, will be a spectacular event..
Til then..

Well, I've read through that handbook for the recently deceased. It says: 'live people ignore the strange and unusual.I,myself,am strange and unusual.

Yesterday I took a trip into the city via Metronorth with my good pal/Broseph/fellow tattooist Frank Luca. We headed in to the M.O.M.A. to see the Tim Burton art exhibit. Let me tell you, it was, by far, one of the most amazing and inspiring art exhibits ive ever laid these big blue eyes on. Simply enchanting. As most of you know, you cant take photos, so i did some sneaky shots. A couple are kind of blurry, but you get the drift. After the private tour of the exhibit, we were able to catch BeetleJuice on the big screen. Beetlejuice is by far one of my favorite movies EVER. With an amazing cast (Catherine Ohara, Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Winona Ryder and Batman himself Michael Keaton) and an amazing score from the talented Danny Elfman (Oingo Boingo) how can you do wrong? I will admit I hadnt ever seen it in a theater, with the release date of 1988, I was a wee young lad of 9. So it was truly entertaining to see it in a theater. In all, I do suggest making some time to see this exhibit for yourself. The exhibit is open from November 22, 2009–April 26, 2010. It has certainly made me want to sketch like mad and open up my imagination. I believe it will do the same for you.
Enjoy.
